George Makar, DVM
Dr. Makar is a graduate of Cairo University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and has trained at Purdue University and Oklahoma State University. He has owned and operated several reputable veterinary hospitals in Orange County and the Inland Empire dedicated to caring for all types of pets - dogs, cats, birds, rodents, reptiles, and the exotics. His special interest is orthopedic surgery. Dr. Makar and his wife are the proud parents of two children and two cats, Napkin and Vanilla. His hobbies include travel, soccer and reading history books. Dr. Makar is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Rachel Hoffman, DVM
Dr. Hoffman attended the University of California, Davis, obtaining her undergraduate degree in Biology in 2006 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2010. She has over 10 years of experience in the veterinary field, having worked as a technician and receptionist prior to graduating from veterinary school. Her special interests include internal medicine, feline medicine, surgery and exotic animal medicine. Dr. Hoffman resides in the Inland Empire with 2 dogs, 8 cats, and a box turtle.
Meet our Staff
Nancy, Receptionist
Nancy has worked at Yucaipa Animal Hospital since 2004. She owns four dogs: Carly (German Shepherd), Olive (Pembroke Welsh Corgi), Sprite (Sheltie), and Luc (Toy Poodle). Nancy and her husband both enjoy showing dogs in Obedience and Agility, and collecting vintage poodles.
Grace, Receptionist
Grace joined the front desk team in April 2009. She is the busy mother of two. Grace adopted an English Bulldog, Fatso, after years of waiting for the perfect candidate.
Jessica, Lead Technician
Jessica has been a valuable member of Yucaipa Animal Hospital since 1997. Jessica and her husband, Joey, are the proud parents of two beautiful girls. They have three cats and two dogs. Jessica enjoys gardening, listening to music, and exploring the great outdoors with her family.
Tamara, Assistant Technician
Assistant Technician
Tamara has been with the technical staff since 2005. She owns three dogs; Rusty, Hailey and Chocolate Devine and one cat, Tido. Tamara enjoys watching movies and listening to music to relax.
Shauna, Assistance Technician
Shauna has been with the team since March 2009. She is the happy owner of three precious cats, Gordy, Casey and Buddy. In her free time, Shauna enjoys reading and going to the movies. Janet- Assistant Technician
Christopher, Assistant Technician
Chris has been a veterinary technician for seven years and enjoys his work very much. He has been with Yucaipa Animal Hospital since 2011. Chris has five cats and two dogs, Kahlua and Megan. When not at work or school, Chris likes to take his dogs to the beach and spend time with friends and family.
Janet, Kennel Attendant
Janet joined the team at Yucaipa Animal Hospital in July 2011. She has been working with animals since 2007. She has four dogs: Dodger ( English Bulldog), Paris (English Bulldog) Brownie (English Bulldog) and Pixie (Pom/Chihuahua) Janet enjoys the outdoors and watching movies.
Stacia, Receptionist
Stacia has worked at Yucaipa Animal Hospital since the summer of 2011. Stacia owns one dog, Bruno, and is the mother of three little boys. In her free time, she enjoys relaxing with family and friends.
